999 in Crisis

Carmarthenshire has the
6th slowest Red call
response time in Wales.

Shocking figures have unveiled the local
areas in Wales with the longest
ambulance delays, revealing a stark
“postcode lottery” for response times to
life-threatening calls.
Potential heart attack and stroke victims
in the worst-hit areas are now waiting an
average of one hour and 57 minutes for
paramedics to arrive.
The figures, show Carmarthenshire
residents have the 6th worst response
time for Red calls (immediately life
threatening) and wait 6.1% longer for
Amber (serious but not life threatening),
at well over 2 hours, than the Welsh
average.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats are calling
for action on the social care crisis in order
to free up hospital beds and stop
ambulances waiting outside hospitals.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane
Dodds MS said:
“Far too many people are being left to
wait too long in an emergency across
every region of Wales. None of this is the
fault of our hardworking ambulance staff
who are doing their utmost in extremely
difficult conditions.”

Mae gan Sir Gaerfyrddin
y 6ed amser ymateb i alwadau
Coch arafaf yng Nghymru.

Mae ffigyrau brawychus wedi datgelu'r
ardaloedd lleol yng Nghymru gyda'r oedi
hiraf o ran ambiwlansys, gan ddatgelu
"loteri cod post" llwm ar gyfer amseroedd
ymateb i alwadau sy'n peryglu bywyd.
Mae trawiad posib ar y galon a
dioddefwyr strôc yn yr ardaloedd sydd
wedi'u taro waethaf bellach yn aros
cyfartaledd o awr a 57 munud i
barafeddygon gyrraedd.
Mae'r ffigurau, yn dangos bod gan
drigolion Sir Gaerfyrddin y 6ed amser
ymateb gwaethaf i alwadau coch (sy'n
peryglu bywyd ar unwaith) ac aros 6.1%
yn hirach am Amber (difrifol ond nid yw'n
bygwth bywyd), ar ymhell dros 2 awr, na
chyfartaledd Cymru.
Mae'r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Cymreig
yn galw am weithredu ar yr argyfwng
gofal cymdeithasol er mwyn rhyddhau
gwelyau mewn ysbytai a stopio
ambiwlansys rhag aros y tu allan i ysbytai.
Dywedodd Arweinydd Democratiaid
Rhyddfrydol Cymru, Jane Dodds AS:
"Mae gormod o lawer o bobl yn cael eu
gadael i aros gormod o amser mewn
argyfwng ar draws pob rhanbarth yng
Nghymru. Nid oes dim bai ar ein staff
ambiwlans sy'n gweithio'n galed, ac sy'n
gwneud eu gorau glas mewn amodau
hynod o anodd."
