Sewage Shame

Raw sewage dumping into our local rivers and
coastal areas continues to be a national
disgrace - and it is getting worse!
In the last year over 450,000 sewage spills were
counted in English and Welsh waters. That’s
almost 3.5 million hours of sewage dumping - an
increase on the previous year.
Things need to change - and the Lib Dems are
leading the way by calling for:
A sewage tax on water companies to force them
to re-invest profits to improve the sewage
network and fix leaks.
OFWAT (the water regulator) to be abolished and
replaced with an Independent Regulator with
real powers to stop sewage discharges and issue
unlimited fines.
Urgent action is needed now to protect our rivers
and coastal areas. The Welsh Lib Dems have a
plan to stop the sewage dumping scandal.

Mae carthion amrwd yn gwaredu i'n hafonydd
lleol a'n hardaloedd arfordirol yn parhau i fod yn
warth cenedlaethol - ac mae'n gwaethygu!
Yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf cafodd dros
450,000 o ollyngiadau carthion eu cyfrif yn
nyfroedd Lloegr a Chymru. Mae hynny bron i 3.5
miliwn awr o gael gwared ar garthion - cynnydd o'i
gymharu â'r flwyddyn flaenorol.
Mae angen i bethau newid - ac mae'r Democratiaid
Rhyddfrydol yn arwain y ffordd drwy alw am:
Treth carthion ar gwmnïau dŵr i'w gorfodi i ailfuddsoddi
elw er mwyn gwella'r rhwydwaith
carthffosiaeth a thrwsio gollyngiadau.
OFWAT i gael ei ddiddymu a'i ddisodli gan
Reoleiddiwr Annibynnol â phwerau go iawn i atal
gollyngiadau carthion a rhoi dirwyon diderfyn.
Mae angen gweithredu ar frys nawr i warchod ein
hafonydd a'n hardaloedd arfordirol. Mae gan y
Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Cymreig gynllun i atal y
sgandal gwaredu carthion.
